The sun came out today… and it was glorious! Here is shines over the frozen Bering Sea.
We had about an hour to walk around and just enjoy the light. It felt so good to be outside, but don’t let the sunshine fool you. It was cold: ski pants, down jacket, wool long johns, multiple layers, scarf, gloves with liners… and you can still feel it!
Here’s a couple of other fun shots I thought you might enjoy. They are all taken with my iPhone because the lens on my DSLR would not cooperate in the cold.
The women’s conference began tonight, and there is so much I could write, but can I just say that God is good, and He is faithful.
I also think I’ll share some lessons that were powerfully reinforced for me again today:
1. There is NO substitute for God’s Word.
2. Darkness will always be exposed.
3. We don’t have to understand to be obedient.
4. God is always at work… always.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:19
And here’s the thing. We’re not always going to know or understand God’s bigger plan. We don’t have to… whether we’re in Nome, Alaska, or in our own hometown. We have to trust and obey. We have to turn our eyes upon Jesus, as Mary so beautifully led us in worship tonight.
God, may we trust you for a new thing… right here in Nome, Alaska… right in our own lives.
I ask you all to pray… pray for my increased faith… pray I would teach with boldness… pray for a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland… pray God’s love and faithfulness would be revealed… pray for Truth and Light!
May we know Him and make Him known!
