Overwhelming Evidence

Ok. I know this picture will not win any photo contests, but I absolutely could not resist sharing it. And I labeled it just in case you had difficulty deciphering what you are seeing.

I captured the photo from my bedroom window… through the glass… with my iPhone… with the deer a couple of hundred feet away. Not really. Well, yes really to the part about through the glass and with my iPhone, but I seriously have no idea how far away they were. I’m certain when you have two X chromosomes you are not equipped to make distance determinations without a measuring tape. At least that’s what the person with the X and the Y chromosome in my house has told me.

Anywoo, that is not the purpose of this post. The purpose is this… #1, #2, #3… WE HAVE TRIPLETS! Can you believe it?! We’ve had numerous sets of twins, but these triplets are a first. I even snapped a picture of all three of them nursing at once, but it just looks like a tangle of skinny legs and a very tired momma.

According to the QDMR… that’s the Quality Deer Management Association,  twins are the norm in a healthy deer population, but up to 20% of does will birth triplets. I had no idea. And of course, I’m more than a little thankful I’m human and not a deer… otherwise the two children I birthed could have been six. Heaven, help me!

And while I’m educating you on deer, you might also need to know that twin and triplet fawns are not necessarily sired by a single buck. Yep. Research shows that 20-25% of twin fawns are sired by two different bucks. Talk about puzzling paternity. Well, no. Let’s don’t talk about that and how it happens. Moving on…

When I spotted these three darlings this morning, my immediate thought was, “Thank you, God, for this unexpected blessing. For the overwhelming evidence that You are God and You are good!”

I have no doubt as I rush through my days I often miss the overwhelming evidence of God’s nearness and His goodness in my life, but it is there. And it doesn’t go away. And I don’t want to miss it.

“But I’m in the very presence of God, oh, how refreshing it is!
I’ve made the Lord God my home.
God, I’m telling the world what you can do!” Psalm 73:28 MSG
