I’m convinced I should’ve been born with wheels for feet because I like to go! I’ve had the travel bug for as long as I can remember. I’ve never taken a trip I didn’t love, and I have a long list of places I’m dying to go. In the #1 spot on the list is the Holy Land. { Please, Lord, one day soon! }

But despite the fact I’ve never actually been to Jerusalem, I’ve seen the empty tomb many times. Before you think I’m crazy, let me explain.

For almost four years, every Sunday I’ve driven a van load of volunteers to serve behind the fences in prison. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

Over the past 13 months, I’ve watched a wife stand firm in her faith as her husband fought a courageous battle against cancer. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

A few weeks ago, three brave friends shared in church how they’ve been living out their faith in the workplace. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

Last Thursday I met a couple who are giving large sums of their own money to open a reentry facility for women leaving prison. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

Saturday before last, a dear friend of mine worked an 18 hour shift so a co-worker could take her daughter to an Easter egg hunt. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

Many Sundays I share the church pew with a couple who has seven children, three of whom are adopted. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

Just yesterday, I witnessed a young black man extend great kindness to someone who hatefully shunned him in return. I’ve seen the empty tomb.

And I’ve seen it over and over again, because the best evidence of an empty tomb is not discarded burial cloths or a stone that has been rolled away…

The best evidence the tomb is empty is when we love others as Christ loved us.

Paul reminds us in Ephesians 1:18-20 that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. When we tap into that power, we prove again and again the tomb is empty.
